Model 51 is one of Crosley's oldest radio's. It was manufactured  in 1924. I have the original warranty card stapled to the top cover. It is in  mint condition and was purchased from a fellow  collector in 1973. We connected two "B" 45 volt cylinder Eveready batteries for plate voltage to the two UV 199 tubes, one "A" 6 volt for the filament and a Brandes Superior headphone to the set. We heard two stations (in Syracuse) AM 620 WHEN and AM 1390 WFBL. While tuning, the selectivity was poor but each 5 KW station was loud.

This was my first transistor radio at the age of 13. My aunt purchased it for me back in 1969 at a Zayre Department Store in Chicago at the corner of Central and Milwaukee Avenues. I listened to a lot of WLS, WCFL, WIND and WBBM with the Model 899.
